Flowers have been used to represent emotions since the beginning of time. In early Rome, Brides carried herbs under their veils to ensure fertility and fidelity and ward off evil spirits. In ancient Greece, Ivy was uses as a sign of everlasting love.

Bridesmaid's bouquets were originally made up of strong smelling herbs such as rosemary and garlic instead of flowers.

Different customs have modified the use of flowers in weddings over the years. In Louisiana, Jazz musicians lead a procession to the reception from the church followed by the bridesmaids twirling umbrellas decorated with flowers. In England, the wedding party and the village bride walked to the church together. A young girl lead the procession scattering blossoms along the road so the Brides path through life would always be happy and filled with flowers.

With America being a virtual melting pot of cultures and ethnicities, all of the above traditions can easily be incorporated into today's romantic fairy tale weddings.

Cascading Bouquets

Originally referred to as Shower Bouquets, these replace posies as the Bouquet of choice around 1910. By 1920 this style became exaggerated, with larger and larger bouquets almost concealing the bride! After reaching their peak in the 20's and 30's, shower bouquets all but disappeared by WWII. So, what used to be referred to as the shower bouquet shrunk in size and became the teardrop, trail and cascade styles. The cascade features a waterfall shaped dimensions, the width across the top not much more than the width below. Giving the bouquet a more natural flowing look that the stiff point of the teardrop and a neater look than the trail. Their long line can often be more flattering than the round shape of the posy and complement elaborate and vintage gowns beautifully.

Perhaps this blog's visitors who want a bouquet that displays images feminine nature. Yes I prepare an image that describes the nature of it. Bouquet is designed by Rebecca White Glanders wich already experienced many years in the wedding flowers. See, the color combination of flowers that is used is able to work in harmony unity.
Pink in its various hues has long been a favorite part of wedding themes. Representative of love, subtle and classic, pink wedding flowers are able to stand alone in
style or complement stronger red and burgundy colored flowers. Although pink flowers have always been relatively easy to find, the science of hybridization has increased the selection of pink wedding flowers exponentially. If you have a favorite flower, you can likely find it in shades of pink, allowing you to better tailor your wedding to your individual personality and preferences.

So, what are some great pink flowers to consider for your wedding? Let's go with obvious first - the timeless pink rose. Although this may seem simple enough, roses come in several shades of pink, from mauve to hot pink. Also, if a rose is not the key flower in your arrangements, then pink spray roses (smaller buds on a long stem) can be a beautiful addition. Beyond roses, my absolute favorite wedding flower is the lily. There are several types of lily, and they are still relatively unique as part of a wedding arrangement or bouquet. Oriental lilies are beautiful - much the same as tiger lilies but with white and deep pink accents instead. There are also calla lilies and miniature calla lilies, beautiful tea-cup lilies that exude regality and class. Gerbera daisies and tulips as pink wedding flowers contribute to a fun and light-hearted feeling for your ceremony or reception. And for big, loose blooms, your best choice is the beautiful pink peony.
